THE ORIGIN OF
KINGS COURT BASKETBALL

About Us
King's Court Basketball (KCB) was founded in 2004 and is one of the fastest-growing youth player development programs in the Toronto, Hamilton, and GTA areas. Our program offers boys and girls the opportunity to develop as players and leaders by making positive contributions to their community.
Growing up in the Malton community for more than 25 years, it was apparent that there were limited opportunities for youth to participate in organized sports. Many individuals chose a life filled with dangerous and criminal activity over other healthy and promising ambitions. The King's Court Basketball league was created based on the strongly recognized need to have youth in the area engage in positive activity at a critical age. By providing youth within the community, an alternative to a life filled with hardships, King's Court Basketball programs offers hope, inspiration, and a sense of belongingness
KCB Core Principles and Program Pillars:
1. A commitment to high-level player development by using professional and college level coaching in everything we do;
2. Mutual respect for the diversity of each teammate and the diversity of our communities;
3. Making our communities a better place to live through our support of local organizations that promote the social well-being of the community (i.e. we require our athletes to volunteer to encourage team building and accountability to the team and local community
4. Life skills off the court through mentorship with pro players and coaches, financial literacy through guest speakers.

"A coach will impact more people in one year than the average person will in an entire lifetime"

Kingsley Hudson, better known as Coach King, is the passionate founder of KCB since 2005. His own journey in basketball, marked by incredible achievements, has fueled his unwavering dedication to the sport and its potential to transform lives. Coach King's remarkable story began when he earned a full scholarship to play at Eastern Florida State College, a turning point that he considers one of the best things that ever happened to him.

Following his collegiate career, Coach King's drive and talent led him to win a National Championship as a player in the CCAA in Canada, solidifying his status as a standout athlete. Taking his game to the professional level, he embarked on an unforgettable journey playing for MK Lions, now known as the London Lions, in Europe. This experience not only enriched Coach King's skills on the court but also opened his eyes to the myriad of opportunities available to positively impact and assist others in achieving their goals within the sport.

As an assistant coach at the collegiate level for women's basketball, he achieved remarkable success, securing two CCAA national titles and numerous OCAA championships. It was during this time that Coach King's deep love and profound passion for the game led him to realize the immense potential for making a lasting impact on the youth.

Driven by a burning desire to help young athletes harness the power of basketball to achieve their dreams, Coach King established KCB. His ultimate goal is to empower every child in the program, showing them that their dreams are within reach. By providing a blueprint for success and emphasizing the importance of sports, Coach King aims to impart a broader understanding of the opportunities that lie beyond the basketball court. For him, KCB represents a platform where dreams are nurtured, potential is unleashed, and the impact extends far beyond the game itself.
